An MBA program is one of the most popular and highly demanded courses. But the curriculum of this course is not an easy one. In fact, it is very intensive and rigorous and demands high levels of dedication and long study hours. There are many types of MBA programs 2-year full time management programs, 1-year full time management programs, Executive management programs, Distance learning management programs, Online management programs. Among all these, the 2-year management program is the standard one, and also the most common.

A typical MBA starts with an introduction to all the functional areas of management studies. In the first year, you are taught all the basics that are essential for running an organization. Also, an MBA curriculum is loaded with lots of surprise tests, quizzes, assignments and projects. Usually the two-year program is divided in four semesters, but this can differ depending on the university.

After the end of the first year comes a break of 2 to 3 months. Here, students generally go for internships to gain some practical knowledge and also an insight into the modern corporate world of which they are going to be an essential part. Then comes the second year. Here, the student needs to take up 6 to 7 compulsory subjects. The student is also required to take up specialization in a particular subject. Marketing This will lead to a career in sales, brand management, and market research. The student who opts for this specialization must have excellent communication and reasoning skills. He must also be able to make quick and accurate decisions. By doing this specialization prospective students can go for jobs in FMCG or fast moving consumer goods, sales & distribution, advertising and market research, product or brand management.

Operations Management This is opted by students who have good technical knowledge, and a good eye for detail. The student should be able to react positively to tense conditions. This specialization plays a good role in areas like quality control, productivity improvement, production planning, material management, inventory control, supply chain management and logistics.

Finance This specialization is opted by students who are comfortable with numbers and balance sheets. Specialization in this subject leads to jobs in banks, financial institutions or financial consultancies. This specialization is one of the toughest and the most coveted.

Human Resource Management This specialization is taken up students who like to deal with people. In the long run, they are required to maintain the backbone of an organization employees. Apart from the above, students can also opt for specializations in Systems Management, and International Business.

Towards the end of the 2nd year, a placement drive is organized where companies come to recruit students.
